Couples Therapy and Enrichment

Will Swift, Ph.D. has offered psychotherapy and workshops for couples in New York City since 1978. Please contact Dr. Swift at 212.517.6942 or to schedule a couples therapy session, or if you have questions.

Even happy and committed couples need to work on their relationship fitness. In couples' sessions and workshops, Dr. Swift teaches couples how to strengthen their relationship fitness by:

  • deepening the friendship
  • learning to soften the start-ups of arguments
  • using skills to de-escalate conflict
  • upping the appreciation level
  • increasing playfulness
  • building supportive rituals

Integrity means that you do what you say you are going to do, that you are who you present yourself to be and that you know your values and feelings and act consistently on them. Integrity is a key component in successful dating and relationships. When we treat each other with integrity we promote trust, safety, strength and healthy power in our community.

This Integrity Questionnaire will help you assess your level of integrity in dating. It will point out the areas in which you might want to review your behavior. If you score low or moderate, you might want to consider some therapy or consultation to review your approach to dating.

Where are you at in your relationship?

The Relationship Dynamics Scale (Stanley & Markman, 1996) is based on research at the University of Denver on the kinds of communication and conflict management patterns that predict if a relationship is headed for trouble.
